Intersectionality, Giftedness, and Cultural Identity

Increasing parity and equity in gifted programs requires understanding and collaboration that comes when we look through the lens of others.

Who should attend: Parents of gifted students and educators interested in building cultural competence and partnership between parents and schools.

Join Frank C. Worrell, Ph.D. to learn the factors that lead to many high potential students of color and other underserved populations to be missing in gifted programs: the achievement gap, opportunity gap, and excellence gap. His insights and research on cultural identities offer parents and educators a path to increased understanding and collaboration in an environment that provides coursework and social and emotional supports that gifted children need.

A Q&A will follow his remarks, and you are encouraged to provide questions in advance during the registration process.

Frank C. Worrell received a BA and a Masters in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and a Ph.D. in School and Educational Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley.
