Pop culture has long promoted the same image of pirates- the eye patch, headscarf, earring- right up to the recent Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. But is it all true? Here's your chance to find out! Dr. Joyce K. Schiller, Curator of American and Illustration Art at the Delaware Art Museum, explores the pirate paintings and stories of artist Howard Pyle, whose iconic pirate figures have inspired generations of illustrators and storytellers. Come be a part of an eye-opening lecture about the myths and truths about our modern-day view of pirates! This is presented by our Real Pirates exhibition currently running at The Franklin until November 2. Date/Time: Thursday, September 25, 2008/ 7:00 PM Location: Musser Theater Admission: FREE with registration, please call (215) 448-1254.
