WHAT: The Friends of Rittenhouse Square, in partnership with the Free Library of Philadelphia, will host a free children’s book reading in Philadelphia’s most historic public park, Rittenhouse Square. Families are invited to come to the park to hear the Free Library’s selection of three children’s books, including Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats, Kite Day by Will Hillenbrand and A Small Thing … But Big by Tony Johnston. To celebrate, Joe Coffee in Rittenhouse Square will be offering any beverage for $1 to those who attend. Â

Its vision is to build an enlightened community devoted to lifelong learning. These programs are supported by a grant from The Philadelphia City Institute Board of Managers.
