Meet in front of Zocalo Restaurant, 36th St. & Lancaster Ave. This small W. Phila are was settled by Welsh Quakers in 1682. Named for the 18th century estate of Samuel Powel, the mayor of Phila during the Revolution. This tour features an eclectic variety of mid-to late 19th c. houses & mansions of this early "street car suburb.� Among the designers are some of Phila's foremost late 19th c. architects, including Wilson Eyre, Willis Hale & the Wilson Brothers.
