The Weeds will host a fundraiser event featuring live music and amazing art for sale on Saturday, January 31, 5:00pm at Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, 1020-22 South Street. Led by singer/songwriter/musician Emily Ana Zeitlyn, The Weeds will use all funds generated from the event to complete their heavily anticipated second album. Tickets are $10. Formed in 1998 as an outlet for Zeitlyn's dense lyrics - which she sang to saxophone and guitar accompaniment - The Weeds sound can be classified as 'soft rock', infused with the juxtaposition of gentle and harsh elements, and enthusiastic dynamics. Rounding out the band are drummer/accordion Robert C. Wolter, guitarist Colin Boylan, and bassist Devin Greenwood. Released in 2005, the band's first album, The Faraway Flying of Broken Beating, was a collaboration between Zeitlyn and Greenwood, and was met with great local acclaim. Tickets for the event can be purchased in advance at www.philadelphiasmagicgardens.org or at the door the evening of the event.
