Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer (ALSF) will host the Seventh Annual Lemon Ball, presented by Volvo & the Toys"RUs Children's Fund with support from CIGNA and Auntie Anne's, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 6:30pm at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market Street. The Lemon Ball is an evening of cocktails, dinner, raffle provided by Govberg Jewelers, silent and live auctions and entertainment bringing together supporters of the Foundation's mission – a cure for all kids with cancer. Liz and Jay Scott, the parents of the late Alex Scott, will co-chair the gala with Mary Stengel Austen and Peter Austen. Mary Stengel Austen, a longtime friend and supporter of Alex, serves on the Board of Directors for the Foundation and is President/CEO of Tierney. The evening will also feature the presentation of the Alex Scott Crystal Cup to Marc Vetri, Jeff Michaud and Jeff Benjamin, the men behind the Foundation's first and largest culinary fundraiser, The Great Chefs Event. Liz and Jay Scott will present awards to Paige and Mark Walsh of Leawood, KS, Foundation Volunteers of the Year; and the Smith family of Spring Lake, NJ who will be named Stand Hosts of the Year. Both the Walsh and Smith families have personal connections to childhood cancer as their children are survivors. Charlie Walsh was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer just prior to his third birthday; Charlie is now a typical 8-year-old boy! Bridget Smith was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in April of 2007; today Bridget has grown into a beautiful 8-year-old who continues to raise funds for childhood cancer.
