Independence Seaport Museum will host Walnut2Walnut, a combination of three fun events taking place simultaneously on land and water on Saturday, May 31. Participants can register for one of three events; a 15 mile, two-river regatta in non-motorized boats, a challenging, "Amazing Race-style scavenger hunt taking participants from river to river, or a leisurely "Saturday stroll down Walnut Street. All events will begin at Walnut Street on the Schuylkill River (Schuylkill Banks) and end on Walnut Street at the Delaware River (Seaport Museum). The participants will unite at the Seaport Museum's Workshop on the Water in the afternoon for a post-event barbeque and celebration. Funds raised by Walnut2Walnut will benefit the Seaport Museum's education programs, including the SAILOR program which teaches kids math and science while building a boat.
Registration fees for the event range from $25 for the walk to $190, based on number of people and if boats need to be rented. There are a limited number of early bird discounts, available on a first-come, first served basis. For more information, registration and FAQs go to the event website.
