The Penn Jersey Roller Derby League would like to announce their quarterly Orientation and Assessments taking place Saturday September 14th from 12-3PM and Sunday September 15th from 5-8 PM.
Ever wanted to give derby a try? Well, now's your chance! This free event welcomes skaters of all shapes, sizes,
skill levels and talents to try their hand at the blossoming sport of roller derby.
PJRD's Orientation and Assessments serves as a welcome into our 3-month rookie program.We'll teach you everything
you need to know in this program from the basics to the not so basics not just how to skate, but how to skate derby.
After the three months, rookies are reassessed for graduation to join the veteran PJRD skaters, where they'll continue to
learn, grow, play and have fun.
A limited amount of loaner gear will be provided. Please RSVP.
Penn Jersey, a skater-owned and operated league founded in 2005, is Philly's first co-ed derby league, home to the
She Devils women's and Hooligans men's teams, playing both modern flat track and old school banked track games.
Penn Jersey operates out of north Philadelphia with skaters coming from all over Philly, Jersey and as far out as New
York and Baltimore. As a skater-owned and operated league, Penn Jersey runs entirely on time and talents of skaters and
volunteers to manager and operate all the business of the league including game production, promotion and fundraising.
The skaters of Penn Jersey do this on their own time out of the love and respect for the game that greats like their
coaches "Little� Richard Brown, "Skip" Schoen, and the late Judy Sowinski kept alive during a time of dormancy until the recent
derby revival occurred, spanning coast to coast.
