Museums are traditionally seen as gatekeepers of artistic respectability. Let’s crash the gates with the help of a rotating cast of radical and revolutionary artists, thinkers, and speakers.
Our inaugural SpeakEasy event is a tip of the hat to the original speakeasies — those Prohibition-era liquor havens, gangster hideouts and artistic crucibles that have made their way into American mythology. We’ll be pouring classic ’20s cocktails, accompanied by a swinging jazz soundtrack. Plus, there will be several artists on hand demonstrating and selling their unique crafts. You’ll even get the chance to create a custom enameled ceramic drinking glass for all of your illicit tippling needs.
