Schuylkill River Arts Day (SRAD)

This year, INVISIBLE RIVER launches the first ever Schuylkill River Arts Day on Saturday, July 16th from 10am-2pm, a performance festival for all ages celebrating the Schuylkill through dance and circus performances, interactive activities on and about the river, and local food! The event kicks off with a processional starting at Mander Recreation Center at 33rd and Diamond Street, audiences are led down Boxer's Trail to the riverfront on Kelly Drive led by the spirits of Oshún & Oxúm who come to life through performances by the African Diaspora Collective led by musicians and dancers from Kulu Mele Dance Company. Upon arrival at the river, you can journey on the river in a boat, weaving through time as you watch acrobats interpret futuristic history about the river; mermaids dive in and out of it; and young dancers reflect on the river in their daily lives. Mosy on over to the dock to learn how canoe or kayak for free, perfect your fly fishing, understand your connection to the Schuylkill, and build a fort in less than 20 minutes with Outward Bound! And just when you need a break, Gigi's & Big R Caribbean and American Soul Food will be there to refresh you with a delicious meal and water ice. SRAD is FREE and for all ages!
