Let Them Eat Cake
City of Hope’s much savored Let Them Eat Cake wedding cake competition takes center stage at the LOEWS Hotel in Philadelphia March 28th at 6pm.
Dozens of the area’s best pastry artists let their imaginations run wild to create over the top wedding cakes. Categories are taste, originality, artistry and this year’s theme Animation. Here sugar chefs are encouraged to conjure up extraordinary flights of fantasy. Students at local culinary schools will also get a crack at their own top prize vying alongside their more established counterparts.
This year’s celebrity judge is none other than Ron Ben-Israel renowned for his delectable confectionery masterpieces. Ben-Israel, a celebrity in the baking world, is a judge on Food Networks Cake Wars and former host of Sweet Genius.
What began 12 years ago as a small wedding cake tasting for brides and their mothers has grown to almost 1000 attendees who ogle, sample and take home boxes of the toothsome treats. An unlimited champagne and wine bar provided by WTSO.com, musical entertainment and assorted bridal vendors round out the evening.
$40 in advance, $50 at the door.
First 50 RSVP’s will also receive a goodie bag worth fifty dollars and filled with the latest beauty products. All proceeds benefit the charity.
