The Acting Industry: Never Too Late and How to Market Yourself

This workshop is designed for actors age 30 to 100 who would love to delve into the acting industry for fun and profit. The seminar will help you understand the casting process as well as the realities of work in TV, Film, Print Advertising, Commercials and more. The focus will be on learning the type of work that is available locally and how to search for work and how to be seen by casting directors and agents. We'll also discuss headshots and resumes. Some of the topics to be covered will be typical situations mature actors will encounter and how to best understand the casting process and self-marketing. For example:if you were selling a new car, you'd open the hood, brag about the engine. You'd have the buyer sit inside the car and sense the feel of the magnificent car. But when it comes to YOU...as the *new car*...somehow you shrink away. This seminar taught by the talented and well-loved Thomas Roy will give you a broad overview of the "business? and how to succeed in it.

About the Instructor:
Thomas Roy is our 'mature actors (35+)' instructor. He is a member in good standing of SAG-AFTRA for more than 20 years. His credited film and TV work includes 2 appearances on Saturday Night Live, 12 Monkeys as the Street Preacher, The Answer Man as Lou Pucci's alcoholic dad, and much more, including more than 50 years on stage, including the Walnut Street Theatre.
