The Jessica Beth Schwartz Memorial Scholarship Fund is holding their annual Jessie’s Day “Give the Gift of Scholarship” fundraising event on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 1 – 4 p.m. This year’s fundraiser will be held at the Independence Seaport Museum, located on the picturesque Delaware River Waterfront, just steps away from Philadelphia’s historic district. This scenic locale is the ideal space for Jessie’s Day to grow and evolve into a can’t-miss event.
Jessie’s Day 2017 will feature a special silent auction with a wide variety of exciting items. Our host and MC this year is 6 ABC WPVI Traffic Reporter Gina Gannon. Attendees will also enjoy live music while they peruse the silent auction , indulge in cuisine catered by 12th Street Catering and savor samplings of an enticing selection of desserts donated by local Philly favorites. Plus, there will be plenty of activities for kids such as several magicians and live art, making this a perfect event for the whole family to attend.
Her mother, Janice, and sister Laura, created the Scholarship Fund in honor of Jessica Beth Schwartz. Jessica was a heart transplant recipient and a hard-working journalism student at Temple University when she unfortunately passed away at the age of 23. However, Jessica was able to experience an additional eight and a half years of life because of the gift of organ donation. Her family strives to keep Jessica’s legacy alive by awarding young transplant recipients a college scholarship to help them pursue their dreams of higher education.
Affiliated with the Gift of Life Donor Program and now in its 15th year, the Jessie’s Day fundraiser has raised over $120,000 for its namesake program, providing financial scholarships to over 47 college-bound pediatric organ transplant recipients. In addition this year Jessie’s Day has joined forces with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to provide art supplies for their Child Life Program on the Cardiac Care Unit. This year's event will help even more students who have had organ transplants fulfill their dreams of attending college. It will also give pediatric patients an opportunity to create and express themselves through art. Several sponsorship options are available for businesses to earn publicity while contributing to this life-changing charity.
Kids under 10 are FREE, Over the age of 10 years old $30 … 21 years old and over $55 includes food and drinks.
