Go Sailing! Pack yourself a few of your favorite snacks and beverages and join the crew for a fantastic sunset sail on the Delaware River with the city skyline as you backdrop. Throughout the two hour sail, there are opportunities for those interested to participate in raising the sails "HAUL AWAY" or you can sit back and relax. There will be a presentation about the history of the oyster schooner, oystering on the Delaware then and now, and of course what it is like to live and work on an oyster schooner.

Enjoy the excitement and wonder of sailing aboard our 115’ 1928 oyster schooner. You’ll experience sailing as done for hundreds of years on our restored oyster schooner. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even join our crew in hauling lines and setting sails! Enjoy the great outdoors as you breathe in the fresh air and marvel at the scenery that surrounds you. Tickets $50

About the Bayshore Center at Bivalve, owner and operator of the AJ Meerwald: The Bayshore Center at Bivalve operates the schooner A. J. Meerwald, New Jersey’s official tall ship, as an experiential classroom. This authentically restored 1928 Delaware Bay oyster schooner sails from her homeport of Bivalve, New Jersey as well as annual visits to cities and coastal towns throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware and occasional special trips into the Chesapeake Bay. Students range from fourth graders to senior citizens; subject matter ranges from the history of Delaware Bay oystering to present water quality issues. Motivating people to take care of the environment, the history and the culture of New Jersey’s Bayshore region are the primary goals of all activities on the A. J. Meerwald, regardless of their target audience, length of program, and/or port of origin. The Bayshore Center at Bivalve also conducts shore-based programs, lecture series, hosts Delaware Bay Day (the first Saturday in June), and provides leadership on watershed issues throughout the Delaware Estuary. Members and volunteers are the lifeblood of the organization and are always welcome.
