VITAS Healthcare understands the profound impact that losing a parent can have and invites daughters mourning the loss of their mothers to the fourth annual “Missing Our Mothers” event. This free event will allow grieving daughters to come together over breakfast and share their stories and memories on Saturday, April 22, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue, 4200 City Ave., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19131.
Serving as keynote speaker, Allison Gilbert, Emmy award-winning journalist, producer of CNN's “American Morning” program and author of “Parentless Parent: How the Loss of Our Mothers and Fathers Impacts the Way We Raise Our Children”, will share advice – after losing her own parents – on how to heal and use the experience to promote personal growth.
As the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, VITAS has more than 35 years of experience providing grief counseling and recognizes that providing participants with an opportunity to memorialize such an important person in their lives can positively affect the grieving process.
“We are proud to once again host this event and foster an opportunity for grieving daughters to come together to honor and celebrate the lives of their mothers,” said VITAS Bereavement Services Manager Kristopher Halsey. It is part of our commitment to the community and the patients and families we serve to provide quality, compassionate hospice care and meaningful bereavement services.”
The event is free of charge and is limited to women 18 years and older. To attend, registration is required by April 10 by calling 215-542-3041 or by emailing [email protected].
Since 1993, VITAS of Philadelphia has served hospice-appropriate patients in their homes, nursing homes and assisted living communities. Recognizing that everyone has unique needs as the approach end of life, VITAS provides customized clinical, spiritual and emotional care for patients and their families.
