Run or walk just five kilometers and change a life. It's the "Run/Walk for Water� on Saturday, March 21 benefitting the children of northern Kenya, who desperately need clean water. According to the UN World Water Report, 1 billion people do not have access to clean drinking water and 2.6 billion are without adequate sanitation.
In Kenya, many children collect dirty water when nothing else is available. Mothers search for clean water in vain. Poor hygiene and sickness often follow. The Run/Walk for Water was started by Keiyo Soy Ministries, a non-profit dedicated to raising funds to combat the urgent need for clean water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education in the Kerio Valley in the Rift Valley Province of Northern Kenya.
Registration begins at 7:45 am and the event kicks off at 9 am at the Fairmount Water Works, 640 Water Works Drive, behind the Philadelphia Art Museum. Registration is $20. For details and to register in advance, visit www.ksmministries.com.
