Josias A. Sterling Memorial Apple Pie Sevens

More than 150 players are expected to participate in the Josias A. Sterling Memorial Apple Pie Sevens, an inaugural event designed to honor the memory of the late Josias A. Sterling. A member of St. Joes Prep Rugby (08) and Temple University Rugby (12), Josias tragically lost his life this past July when he was swept up in a riptide off the Ocean City coastline.

The tournament will consist of quick, action-packed 14-minute matches. Some of the teams expected to participate include: Temple University, St. Joes University, Villanova University, University of Scranton, St. Joes Prep, Media, West Shore High School and 428 West, a reunion squad made up of Josias former teammates from the 2008 St. Joes Prep championship team. There will be a variety of refreshments available for the spectators, including Tastykake apple pies, hot dogs, coffee and hot chocolate, thanks to the outpouring of support from local corporate sponsors.
