Fresh air, friendly competition and the camaraderie that is the hallmark of rugby in Philadelphia --- that's what everyone loves about the annual Apple Pie 7s Rugby Tournament, founded in 2009. It's fun for the players on the pitch and their friends on the sidelines. Played in Philadelphia's scenic Fairmount Park on the Friday after Thanksgiving EVERY YEAR, the tournament raises funds for an outstanding cause we're proud to support.
MISSION:
The Josias A. Sterling Memorial Fund is a charitable foundation that honors the memory of Josias A. Sterling, who tragically lost his life when swept away by a riptide at the Jersey shore in July 2009. Josias was a student athlete/rugby player for both St. Joseph's Prep and Temple University. www.josiassterling.org
The goal of the Josias A. Sterling Fund is to support the Josias A. Sterling Aquatic Education Program at the Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center of Philadelphia. This program will introduce at least 100 children yearly to swimming and water safety.
