To Print or Not to Print - OPENING RECEPTION

DVAA is proud to host To Print or Not To Print, an exhibition of objects, printmaking, paintings, and other works by Edna Santiago. In Edna’s own words, “communicating, connections, listening, and expressing are all part of what I enjoy about being an artist. Painting, printmaking, and gourd lamp shades are where I express myself, by what fits my mood. Printing slows me down and brings me peace while helping me appreciate values and light in my works, while painting helps me express my feelings with color as my guide. Gourd lamps and ornaments help me appreciate the delicate and valuable material that naturally surrounds me. My gourd lamps are arefully worked, after selection of the gourd, cut, cleaned, bleached, designed, and carved out with a Dremel tool, then painted and decorated. Fitting lampshades to each specific lamp highlights its elegant and unique details. This work involves sharing and learning with each experience.”
