Pianist Suzzette Ortiz proudly hosts “Jazz in the Wood,” First Thursdays Neighborhood Concerts at the Collingswood Community Center, 30 Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08108.

Please join us on December 8, 2022 as we welcome guitarist, Patricio Acevedo and his group. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Tickets: $15, Students $5 and children under 12 years old get in for free! MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Guitarist Patricio Acevedo has been living in the US since 1991 where he has been a full-time music teacher. Patricio studied with Martin Knoblauch and acted as his assistant conductor for the Chestnut Hill Community Orchestra.

Currently he teaches at the Creative Arts High School in Camden, NJ where he formed a student-led Brazilian ensemble, the first-string orchestra in Camden, and the first symphonic orchestra in the school district in more than 30 years. He is a founding member of such ensembles as the Chilean group Páramo (Latin American songs), Alô Brasil (Brazilian traditional music), and Pagode Project (Brazilian fusion), as well as the Notsolatin Concert Series.

Patricio holds a degree in music theory and analysis from the University of Chile. He studied classical guitar at the Santiago Music Academy in Chile and conducted with Genaro Burgos. Patricio was Burgos’ assistant conductor to the youth orchestra of the University of Chile for three years. He has taught classical guitar and music theory, and co-produced, composed music, and acted in numerous plays for children.

He has also performed in the Pennsylvania Ballet’s production of Don Quixote. Patricio just finished his first solo album (coming out soon). He is a guitarist, singer, percussionist, composer, and arranger who specializes in Latin American string instruments such as the Andean Charango, the Venezuelan Cuatro, Colombian Tiple and Brazilian Cavaquinho.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.
