What role does play serve in our lives? Normally, we set it aside as a frivolous activity best left for childhood, but tinkering and imagination are key parts of scientific discovery. Decide for yourself whether play deserves a central role in your life in an afternoon dedicated to hands-on tinkering. Try out games of yesteryear like hoops and marbles to learn how play and work were integrated throughout the centuries. Then join Public Workshop to learn how building and knocking things down are central components of innovation.
This event is presented in conjunction with our exhibition Science at Play, open through September 2, 2016.
