Tonya Lynette was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pa. Music was an integral part of her formative years. Everyone in her family sang and/or played an instrument.

“Once in a blue moon, you will encounter a vocal artist with the ability to enrapture an audience with an honest, soft, warm, smooth, and witty approach to music.”

Per an academic background in speech, language, and linguistics, the attention to meaning, context, and intent of any songs Lynette sings is extremely prevalent during the styling, phrasing, and delivery of a song. Her audiences frequently report they “heard something new” in familiar songs and/or “could feel” the songs she sings. Her repertoire spans across genres with an emphasis on jazz, soul, blues, and R&B.

Subsequently, Tonya developed and honed her love for music in a most natural way; osmosis. As an adult, Tonya continued developing her love and skill for music through years of self-study. Her primary focuses were the fundamentals of jazz, blues, soul, R&B, country, and pop.

Today, Tonya performs locally, nationally, and internationally. She is also writing and composing original music.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.
