Drummer Bruce Klauber is the biographer of jazz great Gene Krupa, writer/producer of the Warner Brothers “Jazz Legends” DVD series, columnist for the Broad Street Review and jazzlegends.com, and Public Relations Director for the non-profit Jazz Bridge.

Since his first professional job–at the age of eight with Stu Harris and his Orchestra at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel–Klauber has played with dozens of jazz giants, including Al Grey, Milt Buckner, Pepper Adams, Jerry Dodgian, Charlie Ventura, and singers Anita O’Day and Joanie Sommers.

He is the co-founder of The All-Star Jazz Trio, a charismatically swinging group that has been entertaining audiences of all ages up and down the East Coast since 1972, often in tandem these days, with the legendary Peggy King. A hard-driving swinger out of the Krupa/Rich school, his mission, much like the missions of all those in this group, is to utilize a natural flair for showmanship to “win over” audiences who may not have liked jazz before or since. When the mood strikes, Klauber effectively doubles on alto and baritone saxophones, vibes, piano, and as a Sinatra-styled vocalist.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.
