'Muscles For Mckenna' is a fundraising gala that will be held at The Ballroom at the Ben (834 Chestnut St. Philadelphia) on Friday, March 15th, 2013 from 7pm-12am. Proceeds from this event will benefit Families of SMA.
The gala aims to fund a cure, as well as raise awareness of Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is a debilitating, genetic neuromuscular disease, which is the number one genetic killer of children under the age of two. One in every 40 people carries the gene that causes SMA and currently there is no treatment or cure.
This special evening will include hors d'oeurve, pasta and meat carving stations, an assorted beer and wine selection and live entertainment by The Heartbeats. Semi-formal attire. Parking is FREE with your $100 ticket purchase. Tickets will be $125 if purchased at the door.This event is in honor of Mckenna Ellixson, a beautiful 4 year old who was recently diagnosed with type 3 SMA.
Money raised from this event will go towards researching a cure, but also to provide support to the families, like Mckenna's, which have been drastically affected by this disease.
