Adventure Aquarium - Penguin Party

Waddle you doing this Spring? Take a break from spring cleaning, and join Adventure Aquarium to celebrate all things penguin during their month-long Penguin Party from April 9 – May 8, which will include several penguin-focused activities and experiences.

The stars of Adventure Aquarium’s Penguin Party are their two species of warm-weather penguins – Little Blue penguins, which are the smallest of all penguin species and hail from Australia and New Zealand; and African penguins, a species from the coasts of Africa that was classified as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2010.

Adventure Aquarium will celebrate their Penguin Party with the following activities and offerings:

Name Our New Little Blue

Earlier this month, Adventure Aquarium announced the hatching of the newest chick in their Little Blue penguin colony. Penguin parents Sheila (#8) and Phillip (#5) have yet to land on the perfect name for their new addition and are asking guests to help them choose by donating to vote for their favorite name – the name that raises the most money wins! All donations collected will go to benefit Adventure Aquarium ACTS conservation fund to support efforts around the world.

Penguin Painting

Guests will have the chance to purchase penguin-made paintings featuring the webbed footprints of Adventure Aquarium’s African penguin colony – originals ($40) and prints ($10). For an added bonus, you can add your own handprints to an original canvas or print to collaborate on a penguin masterpiece. Paintings are limited for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis with proceeds benefiting Adventure Aquarium ACTS.

Penguin Party Favors

When attending a party, it’s always important to dress appropriately, which is why guests will have the chance to get in the spirit and decorate their very own penguin party hats.

Golden Penguin Egg

Search high and low for the elusive Golden Penguin Egg. Twice a day, the mischievous penguins will hide this shiny treasure for guests to find. Join the hunt and you could win an Adventure Aquarium gift card!

Underwater Egg Hunt

For more penguin fun, guests can participate in an underwater scavenger to find a collection of colorful eggs hidden and submerged within the Aquarium’s aquatic exhibits. The scavenger hunt can be found on the back of Adventure Aquarium’s daily show guide.

Penguin & Human Enrichment

Aquarium biologists will host two special penguin enrichment demonstrations each day where you may even catch a penguin painting! Take part in a little human enrichment (aka outdoor activities) in Penguin Park and chat with the “Penguin Pro” on duty to answer all of your pressing penguin questions and make sure our feathered friends don’t party too hard.
