Fiber Guild Meets March 23

The Space Coast Weavers & Fiber Artists will meet at 10 am on Saturday , March 23, at the Merritt Island Public Library, 1195 N. Courtenay Parkway. Following a short meeting and Show and Tell where members explore all their latest creations, Pam Moore will discuss “Using Multiple Techniques to Expand Creativity”

Learn to increase your creativity by using multiple techniques in a single project, whether doing all the techniques yourself or collaborating with fellow fiber artists. Pam will be display multi technique projects that she has done plus some collaborative projects completed with others. Combining techniques like crochet and knitting, quilting and crochet, weaving with sewing and embroidery to name a few examples, fuels imagination and drives project planning as you learning new skills, and have the fun of collaborating with others.

Pam loves history, especially the English Renaissance, which led her to renaissance fairs and historical costuming. She then explored the history of fiber arts and the complexities of turning raw fibers into a finished product. Although her favorite skill is crocheting, she also has explored knitting and weaving.

Since 1983 SCW&FA has been Brevard’s go to guild for fiber arts: spinning, weaving, basketry, rug hooking, and more.  The guild helps fiber artists, beginning or advanced, learn through workshops and the informal exchange of ideas. They also work to educate the public about the fiber arts.  Meetings are free and open to the public.  For more information call Jeanie McCormack at 321-266-1610.
