Celebration of Motherhood
Attention Central Florida! We would love to have you participate in the 2023 Celebration of Motherhood charity breakfast to be held Friday, May 12th at Leu Gardens starting at 9am. HSCOC, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health through community partnerships, began in 1992 as part of a statewide initiative to reduce Florida’s high infant mortality rate.
In 31 years, Healthy Start in Orange County alone has served over 300,000 pregnant women and infants.
By providing services shown to promote healthy outcomes and reduce risks for pregnant women and infants, Healthy Start is helping more women have full-term, healthy births. This means fewer babies being born too soon and too small which can then require lengthy stays in a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) – or even result in infant death. For every premature birth prevented, $55,000 is saved in NICU costs and recurrent hospital and medical expenses.
