This July, 1515 Lincoln Gallery presents People, People, People, a group exhibition showcasing a broad and compelling range of figurative art. Curated by writer and art historian Elizabeth Wylie, the show highlights diverse interpretations of the human form and is sure to inspire visitors. The human figure has captivated audiences for centuries, illuminating shared experiences, chronicling history, and continuing to challenge and inspire through ever-evolving depictions. We feel a deep connection to these images and often stand in awe of what is most familiar. Artists, too, are drawn to the figure. Some explore it through intimate self-portraits, while others delve into narratives rooted in heritage or shaped by personal vision. Across the long lineage of figurative art, artists have used the human form to tell their stories, and this exhibition reflects a wide range of styles, media, and approaches. This month at 1515 Lincoln Gallery, we present a selection of works by artists both represented by the gallery and drawn from our Found Art Collection. Together, these pieces honor the legacy of figurative art and celebrate the enduring power of the human form. The exhibition reflects reverence for tradition, a drive for innovation, and a willingness to expand the very definition of figuration. People, People, People is curated by Elizabeth Wylie, returning to the gallery after curating Found Treasures: Visionaries and Hidden Gems, which opened earlier this year. Wylie is an art historian and museum professional with more than 25 years of experience as a curator, director, and museum studies instructor. In her second career, she led business development and special projects for architecture firms. She holds a BA in Art History from Boston University and an MA from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts, and is a LEED Accredited Professional. Wylie has curated dozens of exhibitions, authored numerous catalogues, and co-authored The Green Museum: A Primer on Environmental Practice (Rowman & Littlefield, 2013). She has presented internationally on museums, preservation, and sustainability. Now semi-retired, she is enjoying a return to curatorial work and creative collaboration. 1515 Lincoln Gallery is honored to present "People, People, People". The show opens with a free public reception on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 6–8 pm and will remain on view through Saturday, August 30, 2025. A special Curator’s Talk with Elizabeth Wylie will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 1–2 pm. Admission is free, but seating is limited. To RSVP, email [email protected] or call 405.593.1063.
