Step into our “Groovy Wonderland,” where the magic of the 70's comes alive! Inspired by the iconic TV show Soul Train, this electrifying experience will take you back to a time of glittering lights, funky beats, and heart-pounding rhythms. Let the soulful sounds and vibrant vibes fill your heart with joy as we groove into holiday season! AUDITIONS Monday, October 7th Tuesday, October 8th Wednesday, October 9th 6PM - 9PM AUDITION DETAILS Please prepare a one minute monologue and a song in the style of the show. (Songs from the Motown catalogue, songs from the likes of Aretha Franklin, The Jacksons, The Temptations etc.) CHARACTER BREAKDOWN RON CORNELIUS - (in the likeness of Soul Train’s founder, producer, and host Don Cornelius – a smooth, silky voiced announcer) ​ THE HARLEM 5 - (in the likeness of The Jackson 5) Marlon Braxton, Michael Braxton, Jermaine Braxton, Tito Braxton, and Jackie Braxton) ​ THE SENSATIONS - (Four or Five Men) – (in the likeness of The Temptations) ​ LONNY HATHWAY - (in the likeness of soul singer Donny Hathaway) ​ FRED SANFORD - (in the likeness of comedian Red Foxx’s 70’s television character Fred Sanford from Sanford and Son – he is an elderly, widowed, sarcastic junk and antique dealer who constantly makes cracks at his Bible-toting sister-in-law Esther. He often feigns that he feels a heart attack coming on and he’s about to join his wife in heaven.) ​ ESTHER - (staunchly religious, Bible-toting sister-in-law of Fred Sanford who finds little use for humor and often criticizes Fred -- from the 70’s sitcom Sanford and Son) ​ BACKDOOR SANTA - (sings Me and Mrs. Clause – a spoof of the R&B song Me and Mrs. Jones by Billy Paul) ​ MARVIN SLAY - (in the likeness of Motown recording artist Marvin Gaye) ​ TAMMI FERRELL - (in the likeness of Motown recording artist Tammi Terrell) ​ TIANA ROSS and the EXTREMES - (in the likeness of Motown recording artists Diana Ross and the Supremes) ​ JEENA MARIE - (in the likeness of singer Tina Marie – Caucasian) ​ CLARETHA FRANKLIN - (in the likeness of gospel/R&B singer Aretha Franklin) ​ BERTHA KITT - (in the likeness of actress/singer/dancer Eartha Kitt) ​ STAGE MANAGER - a character who ensures the seamless flow of the tv show while skillfully coordinating the celebrity music guest and keeping everything on track.
