Breathe Easy Asthma Awareness 5k Run/Walk
After four years we are happy to announce the return of our 5k post pandemic!
This event will be held on May 18, 2024 at Mt. Trashmore Park in Virginia Beach, VA. Through this annual community event, we continue to move forward in our mission to increase awareness of this chronic lung disease in hopes of further preventing asthma-related deaths.
According to the latest Center for Disease Control (CDC) report, an estimated 24.6 million people suffer from asthma, with more than 3,500 people dying from fatal asthma attacks in 2016. Additionally, uncontrolled asthma episodes are one of the top reasons for emergency room visits and missed school days.
Having experienced tragedy at the hands of this disease, JAM Foundation finds it critical to educate the community on resources that help asthma sufferers manage this disease. In addition to providing an opportunity to educate the public, the Breathe Easy 5k offers an opportunity to celebrate the lives of loved ones lost and those suffering with the disease. With your help, we can continue our effort to educate communities and uplift asthma sufferers, as well as the memory of those lost to the disease.
