Started on August 11 and ending on November 5th, photographs by seventy-three artists, including Gordon Parks, Sheila Pree Bright, Mark Steinmetz, Michael Stipe, and William Christenberry showcase both established and emerging names in photography. The imagery in this exhibition resists conventional ideas and stereotypes of the “American South” and “Southern photography” by drawing from historical legacies where despair and hope, terror and beauty, pain and joy, and indignity and dignity commingle.
The exhibit will be held in the Chrysler Museum of Art and will be located in the Special Exhibition Gallery. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and open on Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM. There is free admission and free onsite parking. Below is the link to the guidelines:
