Piano Jazz Series: Miki Yamanaka
Join us on Tuesday, January 16, for an exceptional evening with Japanese pianist Miki Yamanaka, who has called New York City home since 2012. In the past decade, she’s established herself as a leading pianist of her generation.
Critics praise her “light, expressive touch and solidly crafted, mainstream approach.” She’s gained international recognition with albums like “Stairway to the Stars,” featuring jazz masters Mark Turner and Orlando le Fleming.
Miki has notable residencies at NYC clubs Smalls and Mezzrow, and during the pandemic, she launched “Miki’s Mood,” a popular live-streaming concert series featuring NYC talent.
She’s collaborated with jazz luminaries, including Antonio Hart and Larry Goldings, earning praise and high marks from Downbeat Jazz magazine. Miki’s infectious smile and love for her heritage, seen in her collection of kimonos, add a unique charm to her performances.
