High Mountain Meadow Poetry Series: Folk Music & Poetry
On Sunday, March 12, 2023 the High Mountain Meadow Poetry Series will meet at the Wayne Public Library at 2:00 pm for a special “Folk Music & Poetry” program featuring a musical performance by Beth Ann Mastromarino and a poetry reading by Susan Lembo Balik.
Beth Ann is a 4th generation Italian-American from Brooklyn, NY. An alumna of New York University, Beth currently serves on the Board of Directors of D’Italia Programs, the first Italian-American performance group, founded in the USA in 1932. She is also a member of Andiamo!, an Italian-American musical troupe bringing authentic Italian folk music to America. She has taught workshops on Italian folk traditions, and currently lives with her family in West Milford, NJ.
Susan is Director, Cultural Affairs and an adjunct professor at Passaic County Community College. An alumna of New York University, her poetry collections include Broken Symmetry and Sinatra, the Jeeperettes & me (both published by Garden Oak Press). Her poems have appeared in the Paterson Literary Review, Lips, San Diego Poetry Annual, and other journals. A third generation Italian-American, she lives with her husband and menagerie of farm and rescue animals in Newfoundland, NJ, where she can often be found horseback riding or hiking the trails. susanbalik.com
