Step inside some of the most beautiful private gardens in and around Montclair—spaces you wouldn’t normally get to see. Each stop on the Roses to Rock Gardens Tour offers something different: lush rose gardens in full bloom, thoughtfully designed landscapes, hidden backyard retreats, and creative plantings that reflect the personalities of the people who care for them. Whether you’re a serious gardener, a design lover, or just someone who enjoys a beautiful afternoon outdoors, this tour is a chance to gather ideas, inspiration, and a fresh appreciation for what a garden can be.
Start your day at Van Vleck House & Gardens, then explore at your own pace. We have 9 fabulous private gardens to visit! Also stop at Avis Campbell Gardens, which is lovingly tended by The Garden Club of Montclair and celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Visit as many properties as you like over the two days—each one is open once to tour guests, and each one is worth the stop.

The tour runs Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 11 AM to 4 PM
Begin at Van Vleck House & Gardens to check in and get your tour materials. Buy tickets in advance! Prices increase $10 during the tour days.
Pets and children under age 12 are not permitted in these private gardens.
On Saturday morning at 9:30 AM, talented landscape designer, Evan Ralph of Back to Nature, will give a talk about “From Desk to Dirt: How the Design, Build and Maintenance process come together to create exceptional gardens.” This $15 ticket is sold separately at the link and is a perfect way to start your day with fresh ideas and inspiration.
