In November, the International Contemporary Ensemble is back at Target Margin with a new installation by Nathan Davis, which explores geologic time with ready-to-use building materials, collaborations with Nicholas Houfek’s ColorSynth, Phyllis Chen’s Tone Grove, and more!
On November 4th, take a journey through different visual and sonic representations of textiles, panels, and frames. As Nathan Davis explores geologic time with ready-to-use building materials in his sound design for an upcoming collaborative architectural installation, Planetary Home Improvement, Marianthi Papalexandri’s Duo for Motor and Sound Panels brings audiences through a dynamic spatialization where the performer functions as a mechanism, like clockwork. Phyllis Chen’s Tone Grove translates Anni Albers’ weaving patterns into custom-built drum sequences, creating sounds from hand-cranked music boxes, bamboo, rice, bowls, and hands. Physical, tactile experiences become central to these works.
FREE with RSVP.
In-person and livestream options available.
