Please join Rockland Center for the Arts for the opening of two exhibits: Window of Color: Works by Art Gunther in Gallery One.
Art Gunther has a primitive-style of painting inspired by the light and space at the Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center and by the realist painter himself. We are honored that for this exhibit he will include some of his writings to go along with his paintings, creating story tableaus.
Gunther is a third-generation Rocklander. He is a retired newspaperman with the former Rockland Journal-News, where he served for 42 years as a staff photographer, writer, deskman and for 20 years as editorial page editor. He wrote more than 6,000 pieces for the newspaper and took over 8,000 photographs. He continues to exhibit photographs at various galleries and to publish a web column at the columnrule.com. He was named Literary and Visual Artist of the year in Rockland County, NY, 2005, 2010, and 2021 respectively.
His paintings have been exhibited at the Strauss Gallery in Piermont, the Orangeburg Library and Edward Hopper House Museum and Study Center where he also recently became an Honoree.
The exhibit opens with an artist reception on Sunday, Feb. 121th, 2:00pm – 5:00pm. The exhibit will be on view through April 1st, open Mondays – Saturdays 11am – 4pm, (closed Sundays). Free to the Public. For more information call (845) 358-0877 or visit www.rocklandartcenter.org.
