Garden Club of Hackensack Presents: A Foray into Kingdom Fungi
Steve Adams is a forager/naturalist specializing in wild edibles. He and his
family have routinely gathered wild food as a regular part of their year-round diet over several decades. He is also a primitive technologist practiced in making stone tools, fire by friction, and other ancient crafts. As an independent researcher, Steve has written about his experiments in
a range of topics as a regular contributor to the Society of Primitive Technology’s Bulletin, a publication of international distribution. His efforts in foraging, ethnobotany, flintknapping, fiberwork and more, have been cited in the works of others. He’s also participated in varied replicative and experimental research at the request of archaeologists and academics in America and abroad.
He has done many presentations and demonstrations for Experimental
Archaeology gatherings and other groups, including the annual Under the Shad Moon event celebrating Native American History at Historic New Bridge Landing. Steve and his wife Debbie have also conducted foraging tours for the Teaneck Adult Continuing Education program.
