Drink and Draw
SALLY ANN NOVAK - ABSTRACT LANDSCAPES
Participants will turn favorite landscapes into provocative, abstract compositions in a fun and educational session, working with fluid abstraction to learn about genre, place and scale, as well as color and light to create form. Participants can work from personal subject matter and/or photos of favorite places to create a masterpiece in acrylic paint.
Sally Novak is one of Creatively Wild Art Studio’s leading artists. Sally is an award-winning Brooklyn-based artist by way of California; she moved to Brooklyn in 2004. She works in a variety of media, including oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas and paper, found objects, and recycled materials. Her current works are environmental explorations on paper rendered in acrylics, graphite, and oil pastels. Her deconstructed topographies are influenced by the natural forms of land, air, and water. Her recent works express a deep concern for our endangered environment and how it is affecting all forms of life on the planet. Each painting prompts the viewer to consider the necessity to be responsible custodians of our planet among the climate change deniers. Her work is collected worldwide.
Art supplies including a canvas, a selection of acrylic paints, brushes, palette knives, paper towels or rags, water container for brushes, a landscape image from which to work from, and an apron will be available for use for $20, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies if they have them. Easels will be provided.
