KEVIN KELLY - EXPLORING BASQUIAT
This session is an examination of Jean-Michael Basquiat’s work, style and techniques. Participants will create their own avant-garde painting where text meets imagery, and where loose, gestural brushwork and symbols take center stage.
Based in Brooklyn, Kevin Kelly is an artist who aims to create work that has strength and depth while also being arresting and challenging to people who may not be immersed in the art world. In the midst of the pandemic, Kelly feels extremely grateful to be able to live and work in Dumbo as an artist.
Art supplies including a canvas, acrylic paint, chalk pastels, brushes, pencils, charcoal, glue, scrap paper or collage materials like magazines and colored paper, will be available for use for $20, but participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies if they have them. Easels will be provided.
