From Convict Leasing to Mass Incarceration: The Black Carceral Experience & Environmental Injustic
Women Who Never Give Up and Clean Water Action will be organizing a public forum at Rutgers Law School, Newark, to raise awareness about the environmental conditions in prisons across the United States. Incarcerated people are routinely exposed to contaminated water, aging infrastructure, and inadequate monitoring, creating serious and preventable health risks. This forum will highlight the urgent need for clean drinking water in New Jersey’s correctional facilities and for thorough investigations into each facility’s specific environmental and infrastructure needs. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more, sign the Clean Water petition, network, and support this work further.
