What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? Raktan teaches the art of Muay Thai in a highly methodical and structured way. Three senior instructors with a combined experience of over 40 years develop curriculums tailored to students’ progress. We constantly introduce unique and innovative components to our training in search of more efficient and fun ways to develop specific skills and avoid falling into routine and boredom. Each class has a lesson plan so that students learn and retain new concepts and skills every single class and, of course, have a killer workout.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business? The instructors realized that Muay Thai gyms in the US simply attempt to replicate methods used in Thailand. While the Thai way is certainly effective in the art’s homeland, there are significant societal, cultural and lifestyle differences in the West, particularly in busy New York City. Raktan coaches partnered together to build a modern and innovative gym for the busy urbanite, one that is still true to the spirit of Muay Thai.
What do you love most about your job? Muay Thai is our passion and we try to teach it in interesting and creative ways. Having a positive impact on our students, both physically and spiritually, is the most rewarding experience of the job.
