Dr. Betsy Uschkrat, Bachelor of Arts, Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts with a Vocal Pedagogy Minor, is a professor in the Classical Voice Department and the Popular and Commercial Music degree program at Loyola University of New Orleans. Dr. Uschkrat will enlighten with a discussion on the illustrious origins and rich history of the acclaimed Opera community in New Orleans. She will share a story of the Crescent City’s pivotal role in the establishment of
Transatlantic Opera as she recounts the history of how 19th century New Orleans and her people made the city a vital part of an emerging operatic world.
Dr. Betsy Uschkrat will serve as guest speaker and entertainment for Les Salons et Chansons Trois. Dr. Uschkrat will delight with her beautiful soprano voice as she serenades with selections intimately tied to Nouvelle Orleans!
Signature drinks, mint juleps, and absinthe cocktails will be served. Enjoy delicious fare, including crawfish pies, spiced lamb meatballs, and brie en croute with creamy pecan praline filling.
