Girl Fest: Girl Scout Family Day 2024

Open to all grade levels and adults Join us for a family fun day at the Audubon Zoo. This event is open to both members and non-members Girl Scouts Louisiana East (GSLE) and the Audubon Nature Institute presents Girl Fest: Girl Scout Family Day 2024. This event is for all Girl Scouts, their families and any girl interested in learning more about becoming a Girl Scout. Come join us to learn about Girl Scouts USA, sampling badge activities and enjoying the historic Audubon Zoo. The price of the event will be the community partner rate of $12.50 per person (the fee is for anyone 2 years and older - children under 2 years old are free). If Girl Scouts want to earn their level's Outdoor Art badges, GSLE will send out digital packets with instructions of how to earn them at the zoo. Their caregivers/troop leaders will be their main facilitator/guide for this event. The cost of badges ARE NOT included in the registration fee. Those who complete the steps to earn a badge will need to purchase the badges on their own through the GSLE council shop. Special Stations will be set up around the Audubon Zoo for Girl Scouts to complete badge related activities. Girls are encouraged to use a smart device to use while at the Zoo, you will need to download or print your self-guided packet. Packets will be sent via email two weeks before the event. By using smart devices, we are cutting down on possible trash in the Zoo. Troop Leaders, adults, and girls should read the packet before attending the event because you might want to bring some of your own items, such as special art supplies! Girl Scouts are encouraged to wear their Girl Scout uniforms! Also, a backpack with a sketch pad or field journal (a simple notebook will suffice), writing/art materials, bug repellent, sun block, hats, sunglasses and refillable water bottles are always best for adventuring! Non-Girl Scouts are also welcome to participate in the activities! You will get a small taste of what Girl Scout do and you also have the opportunity to stop at the Membership table to get additional information on how to get involved in Girl Scouts near you! On the day of the event there will be a "Will Call" table outside the zoo entrance designated for the person who purchased the tickets to sign in their group and pick up tickets to enter the zoo. All tickets must be picked up by 12:00 pm. You will be directed to which gates to enter the zoo with your tickets. If you have an Audubon Institute Membership, we need you to check in with the GSLE table and we will direct you where to enter with your membership card.
