OLLI at UConn Juneteenth celebration

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Connecticut will host its first Juneteenth event at UConn's Waterbury campus on Friday, June 21, starting at 9:30 a.m. The program features The Mattatuck Museum documentary, “Common Threads: The Power of the African American Experience in Waterbury;” a photography exhibit of Black history in Waterbury; and a presentation on the history of Juneteenth: what it means, and where do we go from here?, from Professor Kathy Taylor. This free event, open to the public, will include lunch catered by Southern Tree, and music from the celebrated Ross and Bost Duo.   The event will be held at the UConn Waterbury campus main building. The event is free, but space is limited. People must pre-register for the event by visiting https://olli.uconn.edu, or emailing [email protected]. Registration deadline is June 7. There will be free parking on the day of the event in UConn's attached parking garage, but attendees must contact OLLI to get a day-permit (entrance on North Elm Street).
