The 2nd annual Black Business Market is hosted by Templeton Academy, a private, college preparatory school that offers personalized education and experiential learning for students in grades 5-12.
The event is free and open to the public and the culminating event of the school’s Black History Month programming.
“Templeton believes in celebrating the joy of cultures. While we practice celebrating African American culture in our school throughout the year, we put an emphasis in February to celebrate the joy of Black History Month,” said Lydia Schumake, a middle school math teacher at Templeton and the event’s lead organizer.
Last year we had 25-30 vendors and about 150 people to come out and support local Black-owned businesses. It was a beautiful event and allowed Templeton and the Nashville community to come together to network and shop. This event is important so that Black-owned businesses are able to network and promote their businesses with different audiences.”
