The Blair Woodwind Quintet will open the concert with a co-commissioned work of George Lewis, a jazz and avant-garde composer and trombonist who refuses to subject music to rigid genres. Jan Bach’s witty duo for flute and horn, “Four Two-Bit Contraptions” provides levity to the program, and will continue with The Sonata for oboe, clarinet and bassoon by Sándor Veress. Maintaining a tradition of collaboration with esteemed colleagues, this concert will conclude with the Poulenc Sextet, featuring Blair piano professor Heather Conner.
