Tennessee Missing Children's Day 2026


On March 4, 2026 — the 25th anniversary of the disappearance of 11-year-old Bethany Markowski — The Bethany Markowski Foundation, Inc. will host Lebanon's inaugural Tennessee Missing Children's Day Community Event at Capitol Theatre, 110 W Main St, Lebanon, TN. This free, family-friendly event is open to the public and brings together the Wilson County community to honor Tennessee's missing children, support their families, and take action on child safety. EVENING SCHEDULE 5:30 PM — Doors open 5:30–8:00 PM — Free children's fingerprinting (ages 1–17, no appointment needed) 5:30–7:00 PM — Silent auction and child safety resource tables 6:00 PM — Program begins: welcome, speakers, and Jonnie Carter's keynote address 7:00 PM — Candlelight vigil honoring all of Tennessee's missing children 7:30 PM — Closing remarks and announcements 8:00 PM — Event ends FREE SERVICES FOR FAMILIES Free children's fingerprinting is available to all children ages 1–17 throughout the evening. No appointment necessary — simply bring your child and our trained volunteers will provide a completed fingerprint card for you to keep at home. Child safety education resources and materials will also be available at no cost. ABOUT THE FOUNDATION The Bethany Markowski Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Wilson County, Tennessee, founded to support families of missing children and promote child safety education across our state. The foundation was established in honor of Bethany Markowski, an 11-year-old girl who disappeared from Jackson, Tennessee on March 4, 2001. Her case remains open. ABOUT TENNESSEE MISSING CHILDREN'S DAY March 4 is officially recognized as Tennessee Missing Children's Day under Tennessee Code § 15-2-127, established in 2017 through the advocacy of Bethany's mother, Jonnie Carter, and State Representative Darren Jernigan. Admission is free. All ages welcome. Capitol Theatre is ADA accessible. Parking available at 110 W Main St and on surrounding streets.
