Blue Groove is a multiple award-winning bluegrass band based in the Twin Cities that plays both contemporary and classic bluegrass tunes with a creative approach that drives while still maintaining a sense of laid-back, Midwestern chill. That’s what they mean by “groove”. The bands inviting sound combined with their openness warmth on and off-stage have made them crowd favorites at festivals and concert venues all around Minnesota and the Upper Midwest.
The band covers a number of past and current contemporary bluegrass artists, and presents a few originals as well. A Blue Groove show features songs from Alison Krauss or Rhonda Vincent as well as traditional bluegrass (Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs) with all of its drive, improvisation and harmony singing! Blue Groove also likes to put a bluegrass spin on more contemporary artists such as U2, Passenger, and the Doobie Brothers!
Members of Blue Groove bluegrass band include Adelle Hyrkas, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; David Smith, banjo and vocals; Bob Doe, lead guitar, dobro, and vocals; Tom Erickson, upright bass and vocals, Tom Wadzinski mandolin and vocals; and has featured special guest fiddlers Richard Kriehn, Michael Prewitt, and AJ Srubas
