Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Treat yourself to a magical, fantastical outing as Burnsville High School Theatre Guild presents Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as its Fall Musical in a fun and exciting start to its 65th season. Students in grades 9-12 are eager to show you “a world of pure imagination” with this slightly modernized version of Charlie Bucket and friends, including the mysterious Willy Wonka! This musical brings the 1964 novel to life with delightful music and choreography and colorful costumes. Veruca Salt, Augustus Gloop, Violet Beauregarde and Mike Teavee are just as awful as you remember them (and possibly a little worse!). “It has been wonderful to work on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I’m drawn to create a connection with audiences via theatre and I think this story reminds us that even in a world full of temptation and chaos, staying true to yourself is the sweetest reward of all,” said Director Kate Herrera. “With the timeless story of good vs. evil, Wonka’s witty and comedic remarks to the audience, and vibrant characters, it’s a production that all ages will enjoy!” Senior Preview night: Wednesday, November 5, at 4 p.m. Opening Night: Thursday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m. Additional shows, all at 7 p.m.: Friday, Nov. 7; Saturday, Nov. 8; Thursday, Nov. 13; Friday, Nov. 14; Saturday, Nov. 15 All performances are at the Mraz Center for the Performing Arts, 600 State Highway 13, in Burnsville (located at Burnsville High School).
