OPERA ON TAP
In an unusual twist to the Sunday Jazz Series we invite OPERA ON TAP to take center stage! Experience opera in a way you never have before - at a local bar! It's great opera...from the comfort of your favorite bar stool.
Opera on Tap (OOT) is a non-profit organization whose mission is "to expose new audiences to opera and classical music by taking opera and classical music out of the concert hall and performing it in alternative venues, to aid young performers in their development by giving them the opportunity to perform and to promote and support them through our organization and to help promote new classical works of contemporary classical and operatic composers." Opera on Tap Twin Cities (OOT Twin Cities) is one of 34 chapters located across the U.S. and Germany. The Twin Cities chapter was established in 2011, showcasing the talent of local opera singers in bars throughout the Minneapolis and St. Paul area. For 8 years they called Honey (in Northeast Minneapolis) their home on the second Sunday of the month. During that time they presented a variety of themes for each show including their annual OOToberfest fundraiser, their New Arias on Tap collaboration with composers and their popular Diva Battle, just to name a few. Each show concluded with a rendition of the Brindisi from La Traviata where everyone joined in on the chorus. Opera on Tap Twin Cities continues to break down the stereotypes about opera while performing in a variety of spaces. They strive to be inclusive and keep ticket prices affordable to help bring opera to the masses. They are thrilled to be performing at MetroNOME Brewery for the first time on Sunday April 14, 2024 and hope to see you there!
